In December of 1999, Turner
Supply Company purchased Parrish-KeithSimmons,
an industrial distribution company
in Nashville, Tennessee and expanded
into that area. In the same month,
we opened our 12th branch location
in Annistion, Alabama. In July, 2000
Turner Supply Company purchased Young
& Vann Industrial Supply, a company
originally founded in 1906. Along
with this aquisition, we obtained
our 13th branch location in Albany,
Georgia and our Fabrication Shop in
Birmingham, Alabama. Turner Supply
Company currently operates from 14
locations throughout Alabama, Mississippi,
Northwest Florida, Central Tennessee,-
and Southwest Georgia, with Mobile
and Birmingham serving as distribution
centers. Total warehouse space consists
of 290,000 sq. ft. and we operate
our own fleet of delivery and service
vehicles at each branch. Total inventory
value is over $7,000,000 consisting
of over 82,000 SKU's from 2,445 stocking
vendors and 5,708 active vendors.
Both inventory value and vendor base
have grown steadily with the addition
of major supply contracts and agreements
with large national manufacturers.
Turner Supply Company
is a member of Affiliated Distributors,
A-D, an organization dedicated to
providing new technology and cost
saving programs to our partners. Through
interaction with other distributors
in this association, as well as IDA
(Industrial Distribution Association)
and NIBA (National Industrial Belting
Association), Turner Supply Company
stays on the leading edge of new programs,
technologies, and opportunities for
our partners. Our corporate officers
have served as officers, directors,
and committee members of these and
other business and professional organizations,
bringing that experience and knowledge
to our systems and programs.
Turner Supply Company
utilizes an IBM AS/400 computer system
which networks all our branches and
inventory. We are fully Y2K compliant
and involved in an on-going process
of software upgrades designed to offer
increased service capability, expanded
reporting capabilities, and improved
opportunities for cost savings and
productivity increases for our company
and our partners. We are currently
using EDI and ERS systems with several
partners to reduce transactional costs
and reduce errors.
